Basic Speed

To succeed and win, players of all positions need to be able to generate and sustain a high top speed.

Basic speed is simply how fast you can run in the open field.  Rugby speed technique is different to other sports.  It is less upright and open.  Different players need to deploy basic speed over different distances so training should reflect what you need for your role on the pitch too.

To run faster, muscles and nerves need to adapt to be able to fire more frequently and under duress.  RugbyMax helps this adaptation by providing the right physiological environment to challenge the body and then to help it adapt to reach a higher peak velocity.

Daily use of RugbyMax provides nutrients, energy, and an environment for controlled challenge to develop the movement and stability needed for basic speed.

Explosive resistance movements, and plyometric conditioning are key to developing this part of your game.  Don’t neglect technique.  Posture, stability and relaxation are just as important as explosive movement for running in full flow.  Practice technique during interval sprints.
